Chicago in London at Easter...
Last weekend, my friend Karina and I went to see Chicago the musical on the West End. We scoffed down some delicious Indian, then headed to the theatre. It was absolutely amazing. I really enjoyed it, more than any other musical I have seen before. Then missed our stop on the tube on the way home, just weren't paying attention, had to back-track, which was so annoying.
The next night we went to this cool club in the city, a customer at work told me about it, Electric Birdcage, so cool. Paying £10 at the door was a bit heartbreaking, but worth it for the atmosphere, and actually meeting English people was a bonus too. The DJ was in a birdcage, and the bar was made up like a carousel. It was so expensive though, we couldn't afford one drink!
The next day there was meant to be a St Pat's day parade through the city- what a non-event. My housemates decided to brave the weather (wind, rain and cold) and check it out, but they ended up back in Fulham at a deserted Irish pub for lunch. Strange. Maybe even the Irish didn't want to go out in that freezing cold and rain!
My plan for the Easter weekend was to meet my friend Bryna, who is studying in France and go to Amsterdam for the weekend. Because of Easter, it was way too expensive and we couldn't find anywhere that wasn't booked out! So we changed our plans and my friend came to London for the weekend. It was so good to see another familiar face, I feel so lucky to have so many good friends around when I am so far from home. We had a day trip planned to go to Oxford and see the pretty sights but the weather was horrible. Snow, snow and more snow. Not a good time to visit Oxford, we will wait for a bit of sun.
Still absolutely loving it and now I'm just saving for other short trips, like a road-trip in Ireland!!
