CAMP ECHO LAKE

At Echo Lake, the program is fast-paced, diverse and designed to keep campers stimulated well into their teens! At Echo Lake, a camper can find him or herself rock climbing in the Adirondack "High Peaks" region, writing and recording original music, receiving expert tennis instruction on one of our well-maintained hard top courts, crossing the wake on one ski on picturesque Loon Lake, competing in a soccer tournament, or creating a ceramic water fountain in the brand new fine arts center. And that is just to name but a few of the amazing opportunities awaiting you at Echo Lake!

Location: Camp Echo Lake is located in the Southern Adirondack Mountains, about 3.5 hours north of New York City.

Counsellors (that's you): With 200+ staff during the summer, Echo Lake's staff to camper ratio is approximately 1 staff member for every 2 campers. Typically 50% of Echo Lake's staff members are returnees and the average age is 22 years old. To find new staff, Echo Lake visits and contacts internationally recognised counsellor exchange programs (IEP!!!). Only the best candidates are selected after a rigorous screening process and a personal interview.

Campers: There are 250 girls and boys ages 7-12 in Echo Lake's Main Village and 150 girls and boys ages 13-16 in Echo Lake's Senior Village. Campers come from all over the United States as well from Canada, Mexico, and Europe. Echo Lake runs one session of 51 days for all of our campers, so all of our campers start and finish camp at the same time.

Lodgings: Housing at camp is simple but very comfortable. We have wood frame cabins with indoor plumbing and electricity! Most of the cabins have ceiling fans as well. Shower houses with individual shower stalls are located within a few feet of all bunks. Each camper or staff person has their own bed and cubbies. Approximately 8-12 campers and 3-4 staff live community style, with the emphasis on a shared experience. All staff and campers foster community living within their bunk and group. Staff are crucial to the creation of this atmosphere in their summer living environment and in the creation of your summer home.
