Arrival and first weeks!

Here's an update from some of IEP's Summer Camp USA counsellors who have just flown into the USA and have arrived to help set up camp before all the campers arrive and the real work starts!

KATE, 21 - Chippewa Ranch, Climbing Co-Director

"I am having a blast of a time, met fantastic people so far! I am working as a climbing co-director and the camp is absolutely fantastic, the directors are wonderful and will spare no expense for the equipment for activities, even taking the staff out for dinner and ice cream!"

DAVINA, 24 - Camp Lake Hubert, Trips Counsellor

"I have many great memories of camp already!

"At the moment we're preparing for the campers' arrival. Today we spent the day raking the forests, cleaning cabins, sweeping roofs, washing windows, raking the beach (yeah I know, weird!) but I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it! The sun was shining and it was a great opportunity to get to know the fellow counsellors.

"We have counsellors here from the USA, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, England, Scotland, Germany, Turkey, Russia, Colombia, Jamaica... the list goes on!!!

"Overall I'm having an absolute blast here at camp, even though it has been a lot of hard work, and I am told it will only get better then the campers arrive, so BRING IT ON!!!!"

MICHELLE, 24 - Camp Hidden Lake, General Counsellor

"Camp is awesome and I am having a great time! Meeting heaps of new people! So much to do that there's just no time to be sitting down and typing!"

MELANIE, 24 - Camp Modin, Swim Instructor

"To get to camp I had to go via New York where everyone was so friendly... or maybe I just had a permanently lost look on my face!

"Am having a fantastic time so far, although I have been doing a lot of training.... I've already passed 4 exams!!! (life guarding, first aid etc....) I can't believe how laid back and friendly everyone is! As for the camp itself, it's absolutely beautiful!

"I can say without doubt that water-front staff members have the best job on camp!!! Having said that, tonight I burnt some energy with a game of basketball, a bit of air hockey, pool, table tennis and fuzz ball... so much to do!"

KELLY, 27 - CAMP NICOLET, Returning counsellor: Head of Camper and Parent Relations

"I haven't fallen off the face of the earth, but rather into the Northwoods! In other words, home!

"Since getting to camp things have been crazy busy, but crazy good! Staff training kicks off today - game on!!!"
