Counsellor: Jordan, aged 22.

Camp: Camp Echo Lake, New York State- a general camp with a program divided into four components- athletics, creative arts, trek/outdoor activities and watersports.

Position: Tennis Instructor.

5. The Aussie contingent singing Karaoke - Down Under (ON INDEPENDENCE DAY!!!) at our local pub 'Ashes' to an audience of bemused American and British punters!

4. Having Sunday off.

3. Independence Day: every few days, a different country's flag goes up on the camp's main flagpole. On July 3, the Canadian flag got stuck and couldn't be taken down till halfway through Independence Day! So we pledged allegiance to the Canadian flag on US Independence Day! Classic!

2. On our day off we ate at a restaurant called "The Outback", which was adorned with tacky memorabilia such as didgeridoos, kangaroos and maps with mermaids (???). The corker was the menu, which featured classics such as "The Prime Minister's Prime Rib", "The Crikey Burger" and "The Cheesecake Olivia." Oh, they also have 1 Litre cans of Fosters so all of a sudden I've become a fan! We'll be going back there!

1. A 3:00am visit by the police to our room on our night off- They threatened to breathalise everyone who was underage and make arrests if need be (not me Mum so don't worry). There were 8 of us in a two person room, but that's what makes a bathroom a good hiding place!"
