How long can I travel in Australia for?

Your visa will be for 12 months, and you can travel within Australia as much as you like within this time.

How long can I work for?

You can work for up to 12 months, however you cannot work more than 6 months with one employer.

What kind of work can I do?

You can work in almost any industry you want to for up to 6 months with any given employer. Many participants regularly changed jobs, working in hospitality or fruit picking while they travel across the country. Many others base themselves in a main city for the entire 12 months and work in career related roles while spending their weekends travelling. It is completely up to you.

How do I book my flights?

Flight prices can vary greatly depending on what time of year you fly. We recommend that you spend some time searching to get the best possible flight prices.

How much money will I need?

You must be able to prove that you have $AUD5000 when applying for your working holiday visa, and when entering Australia. This amount should be enough to support yourself until you secure a job, but if you plan to travel extensively before looking for work, you will need to budget for your food, accommodation, travel expenses and other living costs during this time.

How will I find work?

IEP is here to help you find work once you have arrived into Australia. We actively seek out employers to advertise in our offices in Melbourne and Sydney, where we have regularly updated job boards. If you are based in another region, you can access job listing through our online members lounge, which is regularly updated with newly listed jobs.

Can I study while in Australia?

Yes, you can study for up to 4 months.

Do many people travel alone?

Yes, the majority of Work Australia participants travel alone. Our packages are designed to offer you many opportunities to meet other travellers and make new friends.

I am a US passport holder, but I am currently living abroad, can I apply to the program from another country?

Yes. You can apply even if you’re not in the USA, but you cannot be in Australia at the time of application.
