With two years on your visa to work anywhere in Canada, your work options are well and truly open. IEP doesn’t force you into a job you don’t want, instead we offer you all the assistance and resources you need to help you find the type of work you’re interested in.

What Assistance Do IEP and SWAP Offer?

• Before leaving Australia you will receive a handbook with heaps of great job search and employer websites to get your job hunt started

• Upon arrival the orientation will run through some top tips about working in Canada

• You will have access to the job notice boards in the resource centres which are regularly updated with new jobs

• SWAP has great connections with employers, resorts and recruitment agencies to help you out and as an IEP/SWAP member you will often be given top priority over others applying for the same job

• SWAP can sit down with you and help you format your resume into Canadian style

• Unlimited access to internet, printing, fax and phones to make the job search so much easier

• If arriving in September/October SWAP can inform you of local job fairs taking place for the upcoming winter season

• The SWAP crew is there to help, no matter what job you’re after…just ask.

What will I do?

Most members take service industry jobs in restaurants, hotels, pubs and shops. This sort of work is generally plentiful. Other members find work in the business sector, in career or course-related positions, as interns or in clerical and secretarial positions. You can do almost any type of job and have as many jobs as you wish at any given time. You can also work as many hours a week as you like at any time of the year, however we encourage you to be realistic and flexible while job hunting.

How long will it take?
The majority of past participants have found work within the the first few days of beginning their search.
