NEW CHANGES TO IRISH WORKING HOLIDAY VISA

At IEP, we get excited over visa news, especially when we find out that a working holiday visa is becoming more flexible. So you can imagine the excitement in the IEP offices when the Irish Embassy announced the latest changes to the Irish Working Holiday Authorisation.

Up until now, Aussies aged 18-30 working in Ireland on a one year working holiday visa have had to change employers every three months. As you can imagine, it is not the easiest feat, especially when the job market is tighter than it has been in the past. The new regulations state that you can now work for up to six months with each employer. Exciting stuff!

As an added bonus, they have also announced that from the time your visa is issued you now have 12 months to enter Ireland and your year-long visa won’t start ticking away until you enter the country. This means more time for trip planning and travel before starting your working holiday!

IEP’s very own Work Ireland Coordinator, Lisa, had this to say about the changes,

“By allowing Australians to work for up to six months with each employer, the chances of securing a job are greatly increased. Businesses will be more inclined to hire an Aussie if they don’t have to leave the job after three months as the old regulations stipulated, this is definitely good news.”
