FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Do I have to be a student?
A: No - the program is open to anyone aged over 21. If you're a graduating or deferring student and you're able to commit for the full length of the contract, you're eligible too.

Q: Is there an upper age limit?
A: No, there isn't!

Q. How much does the program cost?
A.
$490

Q: How does it work?
A: In a nutshell - you apply to IEP and we guide you through the process from there: we'll provide you with comprehensive employer information, set up your interview, facilitate your working visa, help you with insurance and flights, and generally answer all your questions.

Q: When will I arrive in the USA?
A: You will be employed to start in November.

Q: How long can I stay in the USA?
A: Work contracts with CME are for up to 6+ months. At the conclusion of your visa period you have a 10-day 'grace period' where you can remain in the US, but are no longer allowed to work.

Q: How much money will I earn?
A: Most IEP participants who have worked at CME earn plenty of money to cover the cost of the trip, and also to do some travel and/or even bring home with them! Obviously it will depend on how much you work and how much you play! You'll have a set pay rate and you may also receive tips which can significantly supplement your wage. Check out our jobs and pay section for more information.

Q: What about the perks?
A: CME offers excellent staff perks such as discounted housing, subsidised ski/board passes, meals, end of season bonuses and other benefits.

Q: Where will I live?
A: CME provides options for subsidised staff accommodation, which will give you the opportunity to live affordably in some of the most spectacular countryside in the Colorado Rockies. You can find out more about this at your interview.

Q: Will I be OK travelling alone?
A: Of course! There's no need to be concerned about travelling alone; most IEP participants join our programs independently. There are plenty of opportunities to meet people; IEP organises social events prior to departure so you can meet other people headed your way. And of course you'll meet people as soon as you start working and people hear your Aussie accent! You will certainly NOT be lonely!

Q: Can I bring a friend?
A: Yes. Many of our participants join the program with friends and you have the opportunity to secure work at CME together. Many people join IEP by themselves and meet people through the program. Either way there is whole world full of new people to meet out there!

Q: How do I apply for the visa?
A: The process is different at each US consulate. IEP is with you all the way and will guide you through the visa application process.

Q: Do I need to attend a personal interview at the US consulate?
A: Yes. Everyone who applies for a working visa through the US consulate must attend a personal interview. IEP will help you with this process.

Q: Do I have to take IEP's insurance policy?
A: Yes. One of the requirements of your US work visa is that you need to be adequately covered by a comprehensive working holiday insurance policy. IEP has a travel insurance policy that has been developed with you in mind - we need to ensure that you're fully covered for your time overseas. Medical care in the USA is very expensive, so insurance is compulsory! Click here for more information on IEP's insurance policy, or to download a brochure.

Q: Where can I get more information?
A: IEP runs regular information sessions all over Australia - click here to find on in your local area. At our info sessions you'll be able to find out everything you need to know about the program - jobs, accommodation, flights, insurance and more. If you can't make it to an information session, contact IEP on 1300 300 912 or
info@iep.org.au to have all your questions answered.
